Changes can happen fast at the Flag Officer level.  Vice Admiral Linda Fagan woke up June 16th as the Coast Guard's Pacific Area Commander (3 stars), based in Alameda, CA.  Later in the day, she was relieved of that command.  Two days later, she was promoted in Washington, DC, and became the Coast Guard's Vice Commandant, the first CG woman to attain 4-star rank.  (Be sure to see the photos.)

Here's the NEWS RELEASE.
