    An annual memorial ceremony was held at Cle Elum, Washington, Sept. 27 for USCG Signalman First Class Douglas Munro, killed while ferrying U.S. Marines off Guadalcanal in 1942.  His last words:  "Did they all get off?"

    Commander Doug Sheehan, USCGR Ret., speaks during the Sept. 27 memorial ceremony for his uncle, Signalman First Class Douglas Munro, the Coast Guard's only Medal of Honor recipient.  The annual event was held at Munro's gravesite in Cle Elum, Munro's hometown, on the 77th anniversary of his death.  (Photo by Commander Vic Primeaux, USCG Ret.)

    The five Sullivan brothers died together aboard the light cruiser Juneau at the Battle of Guadalcanal in 1942.  Their memory was honored recently aboard the guided missile destroyer The Sullivans, based at Naval Station Mayport.  Read details HERE
